Work under way on Wildlife Hospital

The first stage of our wildlife hospital and treatment centre has begun. Thanks to everyone who has supported this project and helped raise funds to get it started.

A big job has been to remove the old aviary from the front of the hospital building which has left a lovely open space.

old aviary

The building will need a new door and window and a good paint. If anyone has any masonry paint they would like to donate or if we have any glass, window or door companies that follow us and would like to help our project we’d be very grateful of your support.

We’ve wasted no time to rebuild a bigger and better aviary in the court yard. Bestwick Joinery is donating his time to the project and the materials have been bought with the money raised by the Critical Care Nurses at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS FT & Royal Primary Care.

Nurses at our local CRITICAL CARE UNIT, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS FT & Royal Primary Care organised a fundraiser recently led by Joanne Hawes to raise money for local causes including the Pet Samaritans.

The aviary will consist of three sections with a release door in each for when the birds are ready to leave us.

Wildlife Treatment avairy

A number of local businesses are supporting this project and many thanks to Howdens for supplying a fantastic new kitchen for our hospital treatment room, Glow Worm boilers for supplying us with a new combi boiler to keep all the animals warm, Derbyshire Gas Solutions for installing all the heating and plumbing (you guys are amazing), Coverworld for supplying a new roof for our avairy unit and again Bestwick Joinery for all the brilliant joinery work. You can find out more about our sponsors here.

Radiators are now working. This will make such a difference in the winter months.

We still have a lot of work to do and still need to raise enough money to purchase veterinary treatment units, equipment and materials for a recovery building. If you would like to support the project you can make a donation by following the link below or give us a call 07872 421878.
