With no reserves of funds, we’re always walking a tightrope as far as buying food is concerned. We have more rescued animals than ever this year – cats, dogs, ponies, goats, chickens, turkeys and not forgetting all those hedgehog hoglets!
A pet food mountain would be a wonderful thing to have and would keep pus going over the holiday period. If you can bring any cans and pouches in – that is what we need most at present.
With no reserve funds, we’re always walking a tightrope – the cats are better at it than we are! Most of the big animal shelters have hundreds of millions of pounds on reserve. We spend all our funds on caring for the animals we rescue. We sometimes take them in even when we really shouldn’t. A middle aged cat came in to us this week because there was no other option for her but to be put to sleep. The people who brought her were in tears and we were her last hope. A ‘sorry, we’re full’, turned into, ‘yes, we’ll find a room for her’. St.Bernard is the Patron Saint of Lost Causes and Rescues after all.
If you can bring us cat or dog food please leave it in Reception (portacabin) or bring down to the kennels kitchen – our resident sanctuary cats will be around to greet you.
Many thanks for your kindness if you have already brought us food – the hay yesterday was much appreciated and the blankets and things to sell – and some dog and cat food today – it is heartwarming to know there are so many people out there who want to help the animals and keep our rescues going.
Belinda and Biscuit – always looking out for titbits.
