Violet walked into a strangers home in Tapton, Chesterfield with her kitten just over a week ago. Violet had been hanging around the area for around 6months and was being fed by several families on the street. We made arrangements for Violet to come to us for a check up. On arrival we noticed Violet was suffering from painful mastitis resulting her no longer wanting to feed her kitten. We wonder if there were more kittens and something had happened to them? Could the sudden reduction in milk requirements caused the mastitis? The families that were caring for Violet have searched the area but no other kittens have been located. The kitten was hungry and needed hand feeding. Violet enjoyed lying on a cooling mat and being able to rest in a safe place.
We have searched the internet but no results have come up of anyone missing this stunning lady or her kitten. The kitten has joined the ‘Wolf Pack’ kittens that are currently being hand-reared. Luna, Alpha and Beta have accepted their new friend, Omega into their pack with open paws. Omega has been wormed and is feeding well.
Violets mastitis has started to settle down as her milk dries up completely. She is really underweight and has little round tummy with kittens wriggling around inside. An upsetting story of the breeding cycle that too many cats endure and something that we deal with far too often.
It’s hard to plan for emergencies like this. We just can’t turn them away even though we are really worried about having the funds to cope.
