Using strays in experiments

The Government is considering using stray dogs and cats in animal experiments.   No, we couldn’t believe it either.    It’s the most shsocking news we’ve heard in a long time – an Early Day Motion 216 was tabled in Parliament on 18th June by Mansfield M.P. Alan Meale – it outlined the, almost unbelievable, news that the government is considering the use of stray dogs and cats in animal experiments.   This is to bring us in to line with EU law.  Apparently they use them in the rest of Europe.  In our view this is yet another reason to join the Express Newspaper’s campaign to come out of Europe.

The motion called on the Government to ‘cease giving any consideration to these practices whilst at the same time giving notice to the scientific community that it intends to move quickly towards a total ban on animal experimentation throughout the U.K.’  We wholeheartedly support this.   The thought of pet dogs and cats, even if they are temporarily homeless, being tortured until they are killed, is ghastly and no indication of a civilised society.

Unfortunately only 13 M.P.s supported the motion – only one of these was a Consevative.    Time to write to your M.P. and tell him what YOU think?
