Tortie should have gone to Specsavers

Tortie should have gone to specsavers

We have a lot of residents in our Golden Oldie club at the Animal Sanctuary. Many have come to us when their owners could no longer look after them due to illness or sometimes when their owners have passed away and there is no one to look after them. We run a special Elderly Pet Care service for just such emergencies.

Old cats are never easy to find homes for. Many have special medical requirements and diets. Some are incontinent and not suitable for domestic house life. So they stay on with us at the Sanctuary for the rest of their natural lives. They form our meet and greet team and welcome new comers and help them settle in at the Sanctuary. Tortie is one of our golden oldies. She’s very affectionate and helps other cats settle down aswell as saying hello to visitors. Unfortunately we think she might be a little short sighted these days as she recently made friends with a toy cat that came into the jumble. We didn’t have the heart to let her know as she was so taken with her new best friend.

Tortie

Some of the mature cats like to take on the roll of parent to the youngsters and Mr Big loves the roll of Big Daddy in our nursery. He’s such a gentle lad and ever so patient when they climb all over him.

If you are worried about your pets and what would happen if you weren’t there to look after them, get in touch or visit our Emergency Pet Care page for more info. We can offer assistance for a wide range of animals including cats, dogs, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, birds – we’ve even helped with pet snakes!
