Three amigos

birds - pigeons Oct 3There is no animosity between pigeons, they all get on well with each other.  Squabbie is on the left, he is still tame and flies on to my arm and eats from my hand.  Thankfully he feeds himself now unlike baby squabbie who can’t get the hang of it as yet so he is still being hand fed – a messy process with pigeons as they don’t want to open their beak but want to feed from their mother’s crop.   He’s doing well though.  Big squabbie is concerned about him when I pick him up to feed – you’re not hurting him are you?    He gets agitated until baby squabbie is back on the perch next to him.   Maybe ‘he’ is a ‘she’?

It’s amazing how suddenly big squabbie has turned into a pigeon, it seemed to happen overnight.   One day he had baby features and didn’t look anything like a pigeon – the next morning there was a different bird with a pigeon’s head and beak and smooth pearly feathers.   A miracle of nature.

The two larger birds could be released now, they are feeding well and flying without any problems.  The next sunny day …………
