Keeping them warm, feeding them every two hours (with a special baby animal feeding bottle), toiletting them as their mother would do if she was around and then they go back in their nest.
Minnie (shown here) is still the easiest to feed and handle, she uncurls easily but this may not be such a good sign, sometimes weaker hoglets can’t find the strength to curl up in a tight ball. But she does take milk and that is the main thing.
I love her little pink hands and feet. These are such small gentle creatures and are becoming endagered, there are certainly a lot fewer about – how anyone could hurt a hedgehog is beyond me.
A special hedgehog unit with purpose built facilities would be a wonderful thing to have. We have a building already, it just needs to be refurbished and fitted out. If you can help us raise money to do this it would be wonderful and a hedgehog lifesaver.
