The Pet Samaritans were invited to S. Anselm’s School in Bakewell last Tuesday for their morning assembly. Pitts’ House had chosen us as their organisation to fund raise for this academic year.
House Captains, Oliver and Annabelle, confidently led the assembly and introduced us to the whole school. We then gave a talk about the work we do and encouraged the children to ask and answer lots of questions which kept everyone thoroughly engaged. It was clear that caring for animals and looking after our environment means so much to the pupils. Annabelle then gave an insight into how Pitts House have raised money through a variety of activities such as making items to sell at the Christmas Fair, busking and hosting an animal themed mufti-day. She also explained how many pupils kindly brought some animal food into school to help feed the residence at our centre. Oliver then presented us with a cheque.
We finished our visit by allowing the children to handle the some hoglets that we have been hand rearing and also an adult Hedgehog that is not quite ready for release.
If your school, organisation or club would like to get involved with the Pet Samaritans we’d be delighted to hear from you.
