Betty came to us recently and has settled in straight away. Usually hens are timid and flighty when they move home but Betty is the exception. On day one she inspected her hen hut, decided it was suitable for her requirements and put herself to bed without any bother. She is a very placid young lady.
She came in because she was lonely, like most animals, hens crave companions. Sometimes they’ll make do with us humans and we know of hens who live in the house and become part of the family. Betty has made friends with the ducks to begin with, they are companionable together. She likes their food and they don’t mind her helping herself although she can’t understand why they always want to jump in the water and get their feet wet!
