Sally, the little Westie who came in with a severe flea infestation and no hair, is much better. She was covered in sores and we had to bath her three times the first day, she was so dirty. Now she is like Snowhite! Her sores have healed and the hair is growing again in places. Whether she’ll get it all back we’re still unsure. She has a fine downy growth on her body but her legs and tail are bare. The skin is leathery in places and that will take some softening. We’ve had good results with Aloe Vera gel, we’ve been using it liberally. Olive oil is going on the lumpy patches. While she has her coat on she looks fine! Thank you to everyone who knits coats for the dogs by the way.
Sally is such a good and sweet little dog and never complains. She was depressed and timid when she arrived. Now she’s always, smiling, she’s energetic and pleased to see you and have a fuss. If you’d like to sponsor Sally please let us know. Pledge £10 through our donation pages (on the website press donate and then go to the end to the Pet Sam logo and you’ll see the pledge button – it’s via paypal) or send a cheque or p.o. Sponsoring Sally will also give you a year’s membership of Pet Samaritans. We’ll send you an Adoption Certificate, Sally’s photo and her story. You’ll also receive a free Pet Samaritans 2015 calendar, an emergency pet care card and regular newsletters. You can also come and see Sally on our regular Sunday open days – between 11.0am and 3.0pm.
Sally only eats natural food at present (no dog food) so if you’d like to bring her a treat – a can of sardines, tuna, mackerel or corned beef is good for her – and she loves it.
