Rescuing an old lady cat

Most cats are much loved pets for all of their life and are treasured and cared for as they get old.   Sadly, this wasn’t the case for Molly who was abandoned a couple of years ago.  She has only survived because of the generosity of people in the neighbourhood who have taken pity on her plight and done their best to keep her going.

Molly has been living outside and finding shelter where she could.   Most recently she has been sleeping in the lobby of a block of flats – a cold home for an old lady cat.  She wasn’t allowed to stay there  anyway and when Pet Samaritan Jenni, who lives nearby, told us about Molly we agreed to take her in.   Jenni has been feeding Molly but was unable to give her a home as she already has cats.   Molly likes to be on her own and wouldn’t settle with feline companions – she prefers people.

When Molly arrived yesterday she was very unsure of herself but she is a lovely friendly cat and we soon had her purring.  Her years living outside have taken their toll, she is underweight and her coat is in poor condition.  How old is she?   The vet thinks she may be around ten, perhaps a little more.

We’ll know more when she’s settled down and is in better condition.  It all takes time but at least Molly is safe now and won’t have to worry about having a roof over her head at night.   Thanks to Jenni for caring for this little cat and bringing her in to the sanctuary.

If you’d like to sponsor Molly and ‘adopt’ her please get in touch.   A small donation will help with her care – we’ll send you a photograph of her and details of her progress.   Donate online or send cheque/p.o. made payable to Pet Samaritans.   Our address is on the contact page.  Many thanks.
