Remember the Spanish cats

cats - zelda 5 - 1

When we had six Spanish cats brought in last year it was difficult at first to get them settled.  They’d had a rough time as ‘street’ cats before being rescued and brought back to the U.K. by a wonderful cat lover.

They were all spooky and frightened at first, they’d had such a lot of change in their lives.  We eventually managed to re-home three of them, the other three are still here.  They like to be left alone and don’t respond well the human contact – you can take the cat out of the street, but can you take the street out of the cat!  They are survivors though and have a good quality of life – just don’t try to pick them up!

One of the cats had only three legs, she’d had one amputated before coming.  We found her a lovely home where she has a companion cat who dotes on her.  Thank you so much to the kind family who took her in.

The other two, Francesca and Zelda were also re-homed together.  Zelda was wild and almost feral but after many months of coaxing and heated pads and cans of tuna, she is becoming friendly and sociable at last.

Here she is having a cuddle and isn’t she a beauty. Zelda likes to go walkabout down the fields but is always back in time for tea.

If you’d like to sponsor one of our Spanish ladies please let us know.  We’ll send you pics, postcards, their story, a keyring and regular updates.  Get in touch with your name and address on the contact pages on this site – a donation (bag of cat food maybe?)  much appreciated.cats - zelda 6 - 1
