Cassie, our car park kitten, is still eating for England, knocking back the goat’s milk yoghurt and feeling more settled. She is a sweet little thing, not very big though and immature in her development. She has a nice soft purr and lets me pick her up now so that is a good sign. I can’t help thinking that she doesn’t know what’s happening to her – at this age she should be playing and growing up, instead she’s going to be a mum.
The main concern is that her birthing is imminent. Cassie is fussing round and tearing paper up and making a nest in her blankets so I don’t think she’s long to go. There’s a definite bulge each side so it’s two kittens at least, it depends how big they are, if they are tiny there could be more. Will she know what to do when the kittens start to be born? Instinct is a wonderful thing but this little cat has had some very traumatic times so it might not be straightforward – we can only wait and see.
