Poorly pony needs your help

Krystal needs your help.  The vet came to see her yesterday and we were fearing the worst.   She’s an elderly pony and she has Cushing’s disease which means that she has developed laminitis (fever in the feet) although she isn’t overweight.  The thought that she might have come to the end is heartbreak for everyone who knows her.  Krystal is a gentle, kind pony who has never done a wrong thing in her life.   Although humans have caused her to suffer terribly.  She lost her eye in a shocking attack some years ago but has made a remarkable and brave recovery.

Krystal has a lot of t.l.c. here and the vet was pleased with her progress.   He thought she was slightly better and we could keep her going so long as she doesn’t deteriorate.   The last thing we want is for her to be in pain and unhappy.   But Krystal was on good form yesterday and pleased to see her vet friend.   What she needs now is a set of boots – yes, it does sound a bit odd – a pony with footwear!    These would cushion her feet though and stop them getting hurt when she goes out in the paddock.   Her little hooves are tender and we must protect them.   A set of boots would cost around £100 and our funds are are very low  at present.   The onset of winter and extra feeding is a worry and all the cats we have rescued over the summer have taken up our resources.

Can anyone help us buy boots for Krystal?    It’s a lot of money but if enough people donated a £1.00 for Krystal, that would do it.

Because Krystal is getting on in years (over 30 years now) she feels the cold and needs a rug for turnout and another for when she comes in at night.   The one she wore last winter was an old one and has finally fallen to bits.   It will be at least another £100 to buy her two rugs.

Krystal is in good shape apart from the Cushings, which we can keep under control with tablets.   Her teeth are good, her eyesight too and her legs are in great shape, she has no sign of arthiritis which is the scourge of many old ponies.  The best of all is her lovely temperament, always pleased to see you and a gentle affectionate nudge.
