Misty has been back to see the vet but while he is pleased with her eye, which continues to heal, her general condition is still very frail. She is thin although she is eating well. It will take a long time for her to recover her strength and we go back to see the vet again in two weeks, or before if she gives cause for concern.
Living ‘rough’ is not something that most domestic cats can cope with and we don’t know how long Misty had to fend for herself, it might have been all through the winter. She still feels very hot at times and her condition seems to fluctuate, the only thing that is constant is her loud purr! Misty is such a sweet, good natured girl.
Her coat is half on and half off, it was the most matted we have ever seen. She doesn’t want us to clip her any more and isn’t well enough for an anaesthetic so we are trying to get it off a small piece at a time. It is becoming easier and some of the mats are coming off on their own. A regular dose on salmon oil on her food is making her skin more supply and this is helping. At first the knots were so embedded it must have made her feel very uncomfortable.
As well as the superb treatment from Bruce at Spire Vets, the prayers and good thoughts sent in have definitely helped this lovely old cat. Please go on helping Misty to get well – we’ll make sure she has a lot of comfort and care in her golden oldie years.
If you’d like to ‘adopt’ Misty please sent us your details – adoption is £12 per year and we’ll send you regular updates, a photograph and adoption certificate. [donate]
