Poor old cat

Will there be a happy ending for this poor old cat who was brought in to us yesterday.   He’s been ‘living rough’ in some gardens and a kind cat lover has been feeding him and doing his best for him.  Eventually he caught him and brought him in to us.   He’s been named ‘Chunkie’ by the people feeding him and he is certainly a big cat. His problems aren’t that he’s thin but that being homeless and neglected has taken it’s toll.   A semi-feral or farm cat will do well living outside and will know how to look after himself.  A domestic pet will fare badly and poor Chunkie is in a bad way.

He’s in shock and deeply depressed with an injury to his jaw although it looks like a surface wound only.   His fur is very matted and his coat is thin and spiky, not like a normal cat coat at all.   Months of malnutrition and having nowhere to sleep seem a likely cause.

Chunkie isn’t young, it’s such a shame that this has happened to him in his old age, but as always we’ll see what the vet says and do our best.   He still has an appetite so that at least is a good sign.

You can tell by his expression that Chunkie is on the brink of giving up.   We hope that rest and feeling safe again and lots of t.l.c. will make a difference.

Although so sad he is still a lovely old fella.   Will there be a happy ending for Chunkie?   At this stage I just can’t be sure. [donate]    Please send a donation if you can to help with vet fees and care for Chunkie – even the small amounts add up and make a difference and are very much appreciated – many thanks.
