Pigeon pals

birds - pigeon pals

Everything in lilfe happens for a reason.  The pigeon chick we’ve reared was lonely and becoming too tame.  He wanted me to carry him round endlessly, which of course, I loved to do, but if he was dependent on human company, how would he make it back in the wild?    Then we had an injured wood pigeon brought in.   A gentleman had found her on his garden with feathers missing from her back and a wound on her head.   He thought the culprit was a cat.

She soon recovered from the shock although she isn’t as yet able to fly.   What about putting her in with Squabbie?   There was an initial stand off and then all was well.   They like each other and perch together now.  Squabbie is eating on his own although he still has a try at getting me to feed him.   He likes me to stroke him (preening?) and watches everything  I do.  Gradually he’ll transfer all his affections to his new friend, meanwhile I have two more little squabbies to rear!
