Alert, active, eating well and yes, Ozzie can now fly. No more fluttering and falling to the floor, Ozzie can swoop and circle and fly like a full grown owl. It would be lovely to see him take off and soar and drift on a thermal but we aren’t quite at that stage yet. He’s doing so well and thinking about feeding himself but isn’t quite there yet. When he does feed on his own and is a bit bigger and stronger we’ll put him in a large aviary and he’ll get more flying practice and exercise. He’s a wonderful bird, communicative with us – clicking away, listening to us when we talk to him, telling us when he wants food and going to sleep when he feels like it. He’s just about fully feathered now and gets more handsome every day. Although he is well used to us, he will soon be a wild owl again when we release him – too-whit-too-whoo – we’ll love seeing him go – but this little owl has been determined to survive and become such a big part of our lives – we know there’ll be tears……..
