Old pony keeps cosy and warm

Japonica is an elderly pony we took in to the sanctuary a couple of years ago.   She is a thirty-something but is fit and well apart from needing lots of food and to keep warm.   Her last year’s rug had become torn and tatty and when the kind-hearted people at Cadman’s Animal Feeds in Tibshelf heard that Japonica was needing a new rung they immediately donated this wonderful winter warmer.    It even has a neck piece to keep (almost) every bit of her dry.   A huge thank you from all of us at the sanctuary to Cadman’s for this most generous donation.   By the way, they stock all animal feeds and pet food and accessories and have very competitive prices – friendly and helpful too –  it’s well worth a visit.

As well as being very beautiful, Japonica has the loveliest of temperaments.   She’s still very active for her age and can gallop across the field with the best of them.   Her only problem is keeping weight on – we have to feed her a special diet because she has few teeth left, so she can only eat soft food.  She loves to graze but can only manage long grass which she pulls like a cow!

Japonica is 14 hands and a dark bay with a white blaze.   Any donations of food for her would be very welcome.   Any senior mix or fibre plus would be excellent.  If you’d like to adopt her and help with her care, a donation of around £15 per year would be very welcome – we’ll send you her photo and story, updates and lots of info.  It would make a great gift for someone special.   Just email us your name and address (paypal or cheque for donation – made payable to Pet Samaritans please)  and we’ll do the rest.

Many thanks.
