We called him Mr.Big when he came in because he was huge – the fattest tabby cat we’d ever seen. His obesity was a real risk to his health but crash diets aren’t recommended. We slimmed him down slowly and encouraged him to get more exercise. His elderly owner had brought him in because she was moving house and wasn’t allowed cats at her new accommodation.
Having feline friends to play with and small portions of lean meat and fish to eat have done the trick, just avoiding processed cat food makes a difference, there’s sugar in it which is not only fattening but generally bad for health. We see cats with diabetes regularly, a couple of decades ago there were none!
Biggie is still a large cat, with a substantial frame but he’s now looking much better, sleek and very handsome. He’s been used to living on his own but seems to get on alright with other cats here although he doesn’t have any particular pal.
He’s about four years old, very clean and is neutered and vaccinated and ready for adoption, if you’d like to come and meet him please get in touch.
