Ruby is a chestnut mare who has been in the sanctuary for the past ten years. When her daughter, Daydream, was born, she was idolized by her mum from the start. Usually, animals get fed up with their offspring and go back to leading independent lives when they grow up. This doesn’t seem to be the case with our St.Bernard’s ponies. They all develop strong family ties and Ruby and Daydream are no exception. It used to be Ruby in the lead and baby Daydream tagging after but now the roles have changed and Daydream tells mum what to do. They are both very loving and stay close to each other. Where Daydream goes, Ruby is never far behind – ‘where’s my baby? Is she alright?’ There’s a lot of fuss and whinnying if they get separated and they always share a stable at night.
Daydream’s having a bad hair day …..
Ah, that’s better.
