Lots of Baby Birds at the Wildlife Rescue Center

Baby Bird Rescue

Thanks to all the Pet Samaritans who have recently brought in lots of injured and orphaned baby birds. It’s been a really busy week with non stop calls for help.
We have had everything from exhausted pigeons to little baby blue tits and an injured Magpie. Lots of hedgehogs too.
Jo and Kate are providing round the clock care for the little ones and we are optimistic they can be released back into the wild when well enough. Enjoy the pictures and this charming video of a little baby blue tit that was brought in.

We often get asked about what to do if you find a baby bird out of the nest. If it is without feathers, please take it to your local vet as a priority for nestlings or your local wildlife rescue center. Baby birds do not survive for long out of the nest, so they quicker you can get help the better. Always have a look around for the nest before removing it, as returning the baby to its parents is always the best option. If you do have to transport one, a small cardboard box with air holes is ideal.
