Little dove comes back home

When we released Little Dove she flew straight off.   We saw her around a few times and were happy that she was free.  We always put food out for the birds and Little Dove was coming back regularly.  That’s fine by us, it’s lovely to see our rescued birds and know they are doing well.   Then she began following us around and walking up to Kate – seeming to ask to be picked up.   She made no protest when Kate did as she wanted and held her.   It seemed as though she was afraid of the wild and wanted to come back to safety.  We were afraid that one of the cats would get her.

Pigeons are said to be the most intelligent of all birds and this is certainly the case with Little Dove.   She’s back in her aviary with Walter (the one eyed pigeon) and another casualty and she loves it.  Safe at last and no need to worry about cats or finding food.  Little Dove has tried freedom and home is best.
