All kittens have blue eyes when they are born, their eyes open between a week and two weeks old. By about a month the colour has usually settled but it may intensify as time goes on. This kitten is six weeks old so we would expect the colour to be determined by now.
We study all our animals and make their development part of our educational programme. We’ve had kittens whose eyes have been completely different at a year old as they were as youngsters.
This little kitten was born to a stray cat who was brought in with a bulging tummy and starving hungry. She had four babies, the others all have ‘normal’ coloured eyes, only this calico girl has this lovely china blue. Will they stay blue? No matter if they don’t – it’s a gift of nature, she’s a lovely kit anyway.
