It’s usually difficult to persuade baby birds to eat but this little fella is always hungry. We think he’s a young rook, he has his feathers but is still reliant on ‘mom’ to feed him and is nowhere near ready to fly. No dainty tweezers are necessary Captain Beaky takes his food from a spoon and it’s more please! He was found in the grounds of Thornton’s chocolate factory and it’s thanks to the kindness of staff that he was noticed and brought in to us. He’d been sitting out for a while and was starving when he came in. What happened to his parents? No one knows but they weren’t around when he was spotted.
Captain Beaky is a real character and squawks at us if we’re slow to get his food ready, he can be quite loud when he grumbles. When his tummy is full, all is right with the world and he sits down and watches us. This is one sharp eyed bird who takes an interest in what we’re doing and lets us know just what he wants – food!
