Help for a dog with joint pains

As dogs age they often show signs of rheumatism or arthritis.    You’ll notice your dog limping or walking stiffly when he first gets up.  They are two quite separate conditions, rheumatism means pain associated with joints and muscles, arthritis is inflammation and/or pain of the joints.   It’s a common belief that the painful symptoms are just down to old age and that nothing much can be done.  The vet can prescribe painkillers but there isn’t a cure.  In some cases this may be true, but other types of joint pain can be helped by a change in diet.  Some of the muscle tension is caused by the accumulation of waste metabolic products in the muscles.   It could also be due to weakness in a major organ system.   In the Burns Guide to Health book, (free from our shop) vet John Burns describes how an adverse reaction to dog food ingredients can cause rheumatic symptoms.  Eliminating the toxic waste from the dog’s system will bring relief.   We can vouch for the effect of feeding either Burns complete dog food or Dr.John’s Platinum with green lipped mussel, has on a senior dog with creaky joints.   After a few weeks, we see a new lease of life and dogs that could only limp begin to bound around again like puppies.

If there is structural damage to the joints, this is less likely although the support given by holistic and natural dog food  that is free from additives will still be substantial.  Dietary intolerance is more prevalent than pet owners realise.   Controlled exercise is recommended and four or five short walks on level ground will help to maintain mobility without taxing the muscles.    Dorwest Herbs also make a huge difference to pets with arthritis and rheumatism – Garlic and Fenugreek tablets, Mixed Vegetables capsules and also Wheatgerm all help – we  see the results within a few weeks.  Your pet needn’t suffer – you can buy Dorwest Herbs in our online shop, if you can’t get in, we’ll be happy to post out to you.    We’ve used them for over 40 years – because they work!
