Hedgehogs wake up at night time

Hedgehogs are nocturnal and sleep during the day.  they come awake at dusk and that’s when they set off to find food.   When you see a hedgehog wandering about in daylight hours it will almost certainly be unwell.  They very rarely walk about during the day if they are alright.

The young hedgehog brought in to us yesterday didn’t look very well and sadly passed away within a few hours.  He didn’t have any sign of injury, we think he had been poisoned.   If you put slug pellets down in your garden there is a chance that you will be killing hedgehogs along with the slugs.

Please garden organically and help protect wildlife, hedgehogs aren’t the only small creatures to be killed by toxic chemicals.
