Hedgehog wake up call

The sunshine is bringing the hedgehogs out, they know it’s Spring and are waking up and getting ready for a walkabout.  We’ve been putting food out for them for several months, as soon as the days begin to lengthen the hedgies come out for food.  It’s usually at night but now we’re seeing them scuffling about in the morning and evening.

When we’re sure they are fattened up and fit, we’ll give them their freedom, it depends on the weather, we like it to be mild and a bit warmer, so probably May will be best.

If you have hedgehogs in your garden please put food out for them – mealworms, sunflower seeds, cat food (no milk though) – they’ll be hungry after their long sleep.
