Heartwarming happy ending

It’s been a hectic week and inevitably, running an animal sanctuary brings its share of problems.  There is never enough funding coming in, keeping going is a struggle, not every pet we try to save makes it, animals have problems, mostly caused by people and doing our best to solve them is draining at times.   But then – we get the most wonderful happy ending and all the struggles fade away and this is what happened today.

We re-homed Estha and Phoebe last week.  These two lovely cats had been with us for a long time, the right home never seemed to come along.  We had become very fond of these two gentle sisters, their original owner had passed away and they had been home alone and feeling miserable when they first came in.   Everyone who wanted to adopt only wanted one of them but as they had been together since kittens we were hesitant at splitting them up.

When Kennneth and Pam came along and met them they agreed to take them both straight away.   They had lost their own cat and the house didn’t feel like a home without feline friends.   We wondered how Estha and Phoebe had settled down, would they miss us?

An email today from their new adopters put our minds at ease and came at just the right time – amidst all the struggles and angst, it gave us a terrific boost just when we needed it.   There are some wonderfully kind people out there – a big thank you to Estha and Phoebe’s new family and to everyone who helps us and all the animals.   Lovely pics of them in their new home …… just what we wanted to see …….  This is what Kenneth told us:

‘Hi, I’m Kenneth  with my wife Pam we adopted Estha and Phoebe last week.
I just wanted to let you know that they have settled in better than we could have ever hoped.
In our minds we had the picture of the perfect cat for us. We did better than that we got two perfect cats.
Phoebe is happy watching the fish. Estha is just chilled.
The house now feels like a home again”
