Gorgeous Greyhound needs a home

There was a sense of humour involved when ‘Tiny’ the greyhound was named.  Even for this breed of dog he is a tall fella!   He may be big but he is certainly beautiful, black and white with flecks and in great condition for an ex-racer.  Racing can be a hard life and there are often knocks and bumps on those elegant long legs – Tiny is in good shape though.  He’s about 4 years old and is past his best for the track. His owner could no longer keep him so it’s a well-earned retirement now.   Tiny is one of the lucky ones, although they are fit and still young, most greyhounds are put to sleep when their racing days are over.

Like most greyhounds he is very well behaved, laid back and loving.   You get a fuss and a greeting whenever he sees you.  Tiny is a gentle dog with excellent manners.  He walks well on the lead and does not pull.   A comfy bed is a must – the other name for a greyhound is a ‘duvet dog’ – being warm and cosy is essential.  They are fine skinned with a velvet coat and feel the cold much more than other dogs.   It’s a coat for indoors and another thicker one for walking out.

Greyounds are easy to care for, they are low maintenance dogs who will walk the Peninne Way if you are up to it but are just as happy to have a wander round the park and then curl up by the fire and have a long siesta.  They are not good with cats once they have raced so a cat-free home is essential.

Tiny is an affectionate dog and we are looking for the best home possible for him.  If you’d like to come and meet him and maybe take him for a walk, please get in touch.  01246 455777
