Four stray dogs in today

They came in one after another, all found in different places and what breed are these strays?   Yes, they are all staffordshire bull terriers.   To have four staffi strays come in on the same day is unusual.   In fact it’s bizarre.   Have they all run away from home?   Slipped out of the garden gate and made a run for it?   Is losing the dog a Monday thing?   Why hasn’t anyone rung up to claim any of them?   Surely if your dog had run off that would be the first thing to do.   Sadly, they have the thin, dry coat look of dogs who have been dumped.   Let’s hope not and that their lean and hungry look is just because they’ve been running frantically around and not knowing how to get home.

But they are all fine now, they’ve had a hot meal, and have a comfy bed for the night.   We’ve checked them over for signs of injuries and they are having lots of fuss and reassurance, which is one of the most important things. A dog away from home, who’s been running for who knows how long, then caught and caged and transported to kennels is usually hungry and frightened.  Often a stray will collapse through sheer exhaustion.  One little chap brought in last week slept for four hours after we’d fed him.   We were worried about him but he was alright when he came round – the poor little chap was just shattered by his ordeal.

This makes seven staffis in at the present time, this is in addition to our other strays and permanent golden oldies.   If you can bring us food and blankets and donations for vet care, it would be greatly appreciated.   Treats too, if possible.   We like to give these dogs as much comfort and love as they can possibly have.  It isn’t their fault that they have suddenly become homeless.   Let’s hope that there is someone looking out for each of them and wanting them back, they are all tail-waggers, friendly dogs who are so glad to be with us and safe at  last.

A Pound for Paws?   Can you spare  £1 for the dogs?  It would be much appreciated and be a big help. [donate]
