Foster mum saves orphan kitten

Daisy is doing well and it’s all down to her foster mum, a good natured four year old tabby cat called Baige.   This stripy feline has six new born kittens of her own to raise but still finds time to look after little orphan Daisy.   It was touch and go for the kitten when she was found close to death in a back garden with no sign of her own family.    Daisy didn’t know how to feed and wouldn’t take a bottle so without Baige’s help and love, it’s doubtful if she would have survived.   Introducing her to Baige who had just given birth was a last ditch attempt to give her some emotional support and the will to live.   We didn’t know if Baige would accept her but this is a cat with fantastic maternal instincts – she fusses Daisy and washes her  and kissses her on the nose – she has even shown her how to eat properly.   Today is the first day that Daisy has lapped milk and this is such a breakthrough.   Trying to get kitten milk down her before was almost impossible.  Now she loves it.

Whenever Baige comes out to eat, Daisy follows so she is now eating without having to be spoon fed and persuaded to swallow.   She’s keeping a bit cleaner now too – no more sticky whiskers and paws!   Baige is so gentle with her and lets her snuggle up with her and the kittens.  Daisy sits and looks at them, wishing she was Baige’s baby too, I guess.

They are all snuggled in a heap and just sleeping and nursing and with mommy fussing over them.  [donate]
