Our first kittens this Spring are all ginger. They are three weeks old and just have their eyes open and have started wriggling around. Even though their colouring is similar, they all have very distinct personalities. The one of the left is the biggest, a placid boy-cat who has ginger stripes. The middle kit is a little girl with a sweet face and she is very dainty. The right hand kitten is also a boy with lovely ginger spotted markings, he is a real ‘baby’ and likes to be petted.
Their mum is nursing them devotedly, although this was her first litter and she was at first shocked by these three little furry bodies who were wanting to suckle! She has the hang of it now and doesn’t ever want to leave them – it’s a quick dash to eat and then back to the nest.
We’ve had several more cats brought in who are obviously in kitten. They do seem to be pregnant a little later this year, perhaps the extreme cold and bad weather delayed the matings. It would be a great help if anyone could help sponsor the cats and kittens – extra food, heating, vaccinations, worming, vet treatments – it’s a big expense, even a small donation helps us to help them.
