Ducklings for adoption

birds - ducklings 25Re-homed, thanks.   This is a fine, well grown Indian Runner duckling.  She’s about six weeks old and still has some downy fluff but is getting proper feathers.  We have four of them and no way of telling them apart, they are identical.  We find Indian Runners to be friendly and docile, they get very attached to whoever looks after them and will follow you around.   They are no problem to put away at night and so long as there is a dish of supper they’ll go right into their shed and wait to be shut up.

As well as being good pets they are good egg layers and will often continue laying right through the winter when most hens have given up.  So it you want fresh eggs in December, these are the birds for you.

It’s essential to have a secure pen to keep them safe from predators.  Mr. Fox is always on the look out for a plump duck and dogs can get in and chase them, so keeping them safe is priority.  They also need water, if it’s a stream or pond that is perfect but if you provide an artificial pool it should be deep enough for them to dip their beak completely.  It also has to be fresh daily – when it rains your ducks will be happy!

If you’d like to come and meet them please get in touch, they can to new home in pairs if that is better.  We’re open every day for adoption viewing between 11.0am and 3.0pm.
