Just good friends? Or is it the real thing? Rackham and Orangina have definitely got a ‘thing’ going!Alright it could just be a bit of fun but if that is the case why is it going on so long? These two have been seeking out each others company for over a year. They came in at similar times and from the start it was love at first sight. Rackham is a bit of a wimp and Orangina is a confident outgoing type – they say that opposites attract and in this case it is true. They look out for each other and snuggle up together whenever possible. When Rackham runs in, you can bet that Orangina won’t be far behind. The signs of affectionate are plain to see. Orangina, who is definitely a bit of a glamour puss, ignores all the other boycats and watches out only for her sweetheart – they run up to each other and kiss whenever they meet.
Orangina is an agile cat who loves to climb and jump – she’s what we call a ‘run-around’ cat – quick and lively and always darting here there and everywhere. Then suddenly she’ll stop and runs to find her boyfriend, Rackham. He’s not into adventure and is usually sunbathing or yawning in a cosy corner. Or maybe admiring himself in a mirror – he is a bit of a poseur and why not when you’re so handsome?
What makes these two so affectionate with each other? Maybe it’s memories of when they were with their mothers. Some cats do seem to have a preference for certain colours. We have other cats here who are good friends and some who are determined enemies for no reason that we can see. Families maintain affiliation throughout their lifetimes but it’s not often that cats fall in love and maintain such a generous and affectionate relationship. Remembrances of past lives perhaps? There is a lot more to cats and their fey nature than most people know.
Whatever the reason is, it’s charming to see these two together and neither of them bother much with the other cats, although both are on good terms with YumYum who is like a little sister to them. Again, YumYum (who is partially blind) is not related and came in at a completely different time. Both Rackham and Orangina are permanent sanctuary residents so they have lots of freedom to roam in the fields, a heated pad to snuggle up on in the chilly evenings and best of all, they won’t ever be split up.
