Disabled dogs

Jack Spratt is a disabled dog – but don’t let him hear you say that!   He is such a brave little fella, always cheerful and ready to join in with whatever is happening.   Sometimes he over does it, Spratt thinks he’s as big as a rottweiler and just as macho, so we have to watch out for him.    There are plenty of dogs who have missing limbs and they get around really well, Spratt isn’t quite so lucky, because as well as losing one of his front legs, he broke his pelvis and had three fractures of his right hind leg, so his back end doesn’t support him in the way it should.   His mobility and balance is quite restricted but that doesn’t stop him enjoying life, so long as he’s on flat land and there are no steps, he’s alright.

Spratt is no ordinary Jack Russell, he is a personality plus character with strong views on everything.   He hasn’t a mean bone in his body though (unless you are another dog, a cat, a bird, a chicken, a rabbit …….or anything that moves!) – with people he is great.   Spratt likes to sit on your knee and do a bit of reading, so long as it’s a picture book and preferably illustrated with other dogs.    He loves his partner, Miss Nolene, who is also disabled and they go everywhere together.

Who is the boss?   It’s Spratt and I’m afraid he is a bit of a control freak.  Nolene puts up with him though and frets if they’re apart for more than a few minutes.  A match made in heaven.
