Cristo, who came in to us because he had been abandoned, has perked up and is looking much brighter. He is still frail but now well enough to go to the vet. It was both good and bad news. Nothing can be done about his teeth at this stage. They are in a terrible state but he is managing to eat soft food. We make sure to feed him tempting meals – he loves sardines and mince so he’s doing alright. (Canned fish for him is much appreciated if you can spare some).
The main problem is his heart condition, he has a significant heart murmur and wouldn’t at present stand the treatment on his mouth which would involve an anaesthetic and extractions. Because of his neglect it’s a vicious circle, his bad teeth are affecting his heart which is now too weak to allow the vet to treat them. Aaaargh!
It’s not hopeless though, the vet thinks that as he gets stronger and because of the improvement in his lifestyle and overall health, in time his heart may recover sufficiently so that his teeth can be sorted out. In the meantime we’re giving him Plaque Off on his meals which will help to combat the infection.
So what is the good news? The vet is pleased with his overall condition. Cristo is bright and lively now, he is putting weight on and his skin is improving. This is due in part to improved nutrtion, warmth and lots of love – and also to the treatment we are giving him with Veterinary Grade Aloe Vera which we are spraying on to his skin. It’s a product from the Forever range and is the most effective aloe skin care we know. Cristo’s skin inflammation has almost gone and the sore places are healing which is making him feel much more comfortable.
If you have a pet with skin problems we recommend you try the Forever Aloe Veterinary Formula and you will see the difference. It’s a large spray non-aerosol canister and lasts a long time. Phone Lesley on 0788 3566766, who is our the local stockist, for more info or to purchase.
He is such a little charmer – and a brave boy…..
