Delilah likes to go out – but not for long when the weather is bad. She’s back at the window within five minutes, saying ‘can I come in now please?’ Delilah is a couch potato and, although she likes a stroll down the fields, she is mostly quite sedate, no wild-wooding for this middle aged lady. She is very beautiful and quite a poseur so maybe she is worried about getting her hair in a mess or her paws dirty!
Delilah is a permanent sanctuary resident and a placid girl who loves to be nursed and cuddled, she is never happier than when she is sitting on the sofa at your side. She is long haired and although she doesn’t mat up too much, she does need a daily brush, I sprinkle a bit of baby talcum powder on my hand sometimes and pat it into her coat, it helps any tangles to come out.
A few drops of salmon oil on her food most days helps to keep her glossy and her beautiful fur long and lustrous. Delilah is a fish eater and looks horrified if you offer her a meaty pouch. She will wuffle up a bit of finely chopped chicken though from time to time. Royal Canin biscuits are her preference and she has the ones specially formulated for cats with a long coat.
Delilah came in to the sanctuary as a half grown kitten and was already in kitten herself when she arrived. She proved to be a wonderful mother although she has been spayed now. This lovely lady cat has a temperament to match her looks, she is good-natured, happy and gets on well with all the other sanctuary residents – even the dogs.
