When the cats come back from their hunting trips down the fields they always go to say hello to the dogs – rubbing up and down and wanting a bit of fuss. This is Myrtle with Heidi who has been taught that cats are her friends. It’s such a pity that so many of the dogs we get in as strays are cat killers. They must have been taught to be like this and it makes them so difficult to rehome.
All our sanctuary dogs and cats get on well together and show affection to each other. Thas is xcept for Jack and Nolene, the disabled Jack Russells, who are lost causes where cats are concerned. They were brought up to chase them before they came in the sanctuary and they will never forget it. Nolene will tolerate cats if she is inside and on her own, although you can’t entirely trust her. Jack Spratt sees cats as lunch and isn’t safe anywhere near them. Because he only has three legs he isn’t normally quick enough to catch them but if he had one cornered it would be all over. We have to be very careful with him. Other than that – he’s a sweetie.
Oh no! Has he seen a cat?
Nolene is a good influence.
