We now have a separate area for viewing the cats and kittens available for adoption.
Many of our cats go ‘walkabout’ during the day and it’s ‘cat’s law’ that it’s impossible to find them if someone arrives to see them with the prospect of a home. We do have lots of adult cats waiting for new homes. When they’ve been here for a while and have settled down we let them go out for a stroll during the day. No matter how big the pen, or even if it has a large run attached, it isn’t good for a cat to be kept in for long periods. Unless they are running and climbing and chasing leaves, they become weak and get muscle wastage. Fresh air is good for cats as well as people.
Many of our feline friends have been here for years but are still hoping for a human friend and an armchair to call their own. We have some young cats, middle aged ladies and senior citizen gentlemen who, although they love it here, would lap up (!) some one-to-one individual attention.
Big Tom is one of these. (He’s been neutered by the way) He arrived several years ago and was a real ‘wild one’ to begin with and a proper ‘tom’. Eventually he mellowed and now is a real softie. What is it about cats and carboard boxes though? As soon as Tom sees one, he’s in. If anyone would like to give this genial old stager a home, please come and see him and have a chat with us. Tom wouldn’t mind being an indoor cat as he’s become quite sedate – he does like companionship and long chats while he’s sitting on your knee though.
