Bruin came in as a stray and won us over right away, he is a real charmer. Not in the first flush of youth but he is such a lovely old gent, polite and well mannered and how come he hasn’t been claimed. He is one of the most lovable dogs you could ever meet. I don’t think Bruin will mind me saying that he looks like a rag doll toy, not so much a teddy bear as one of those old fashioned pyjama cases! He isn’t very big either, just look at those little legs! How old is he? It’s difficult to tell, late middle age, young senior citizen maybe. He is no trouble at all to look after, well behaved, good natured, affectionate – Bruin is easy going and likes a morning constitutional and an after dinner stroll round the fields.
Why hasn’t he been claimed? It’s a mystery. But maybe it’s because he has a lump on his side. It doesn’t hurt him and we’re hoping it’s just fatty tissue and nothing to worry about. He does need to see the vet though and we’ve made an appointment for next week. Veterinary treatment is a big expense, perhaps it was too much for his owners to afford. We find that a lot of dogs that are abandoned need vet help and that’s why they’ve become strays. It’s very sad, bad enough being ill, even worse to lose your home and the people you love. Bruin has settled down fine with us, let’s hope it’s good news for him next week. We’d like to find him a new loving home but he has to pass his health check first so fingers crossed.
We always have vet bills and it’s hard to keep going with the extra expense. If you can help in any way, no matter how small an amount, we would be very grateful. [donate]
