Baby bunny Betty needs a home

bunnies - betty 5

She’s Be-bop’s sister and very pretty also – Betty is aged 8 weeks and is tame and good to handle.   We’re looking for a caring home for her – it would be lovely if these two sisters could go together of course.   Most animals like a companion (except for hedgehogs that is, who are the ultimate loners!)  We’ve had another baby in recently – a super silver and white girl who is also very tame.

Rabbits need a good set up which  is as much like their natural environment as possible.  A safe place to nest in and access to fresh food and freedom, they need to be able to run about and get exercise.  The hutch needs to be strongly built and secure, with separate compartments for sleeping (filled with hay) and eating and a toilet area.    This won’t do as a full time home though.   During the day there should be an outside area that is well fenced and has toys, tunnels, dens, hideaways – everything that will make life interesting for the rabbit.

The hutches we use are much more sturdy than he ones usually on sale.   A determined fox would get into these in a few minutes.   If they are kept in a fox proof compound or garden they may be alright.   Dogs are another predator.   Most of them see a rabbit as lunch.
