Boris is making progress every day, he can spread his wings now and they are enormous compared to his tiny body. Bats are fragile creatures though and the wings are like gossamer. He’s growing well and getting more fur now, has sharp little eyes, he’s very alert when he’s awake and obviously recognises Kate who feeds him (even through the night! Thanks for all your devoted care of this tiny baby).
Boris is responsive and has likes and dislikes. He squeaks when he wants to be fed and still has his ‘bat-milk’ which is a frail animal formula we keep in stock. Bats eat insects and like fruit also. Boris isn’t too bothered about the mealworms we offer (it’s the juice the baby suck). He’ll have a little bit but when he smelled fruit he started sniffing it and squeaking. He likes to nibble a bit we mashed up for him.
Another like is to be held on bare skin when feeding, he wraps himself round a finger while he sucks. When he’s had his fill he likes to fold his wings up close, be tucked up in his nest and go to sleep.
