You might think all baby hedgehogs are alike but even at this early stage they all have distinct personalities. This is Biggie, who is by far the largest of the group, twice the size of Minnie. And yet Biggie is much more shy than the others and more difficult to feed. He is still ‘huffing’ when we pick him up and this clear view of him is a rarity – we normally see a tight ball of spines. I have to tickle his back to persuade him to uncurl.
Minnie uncurls quite easily and sucks from the bottle without a problem. She is so very small though and we are still worried about her.
The wonderfully kind people who brought the little hoglets (baby hedgehogs) in told us that they were screaming as the cruel lads flung them about. It’s little wonder that some of them are still so scared. Will members of the human race ever stop persecuting the weaker and smaller species who share the planet with us ? It doesn’t seem like it.
Is animal awareness taught in schools? It should be.
Please help us to go on with our rescues if you can – even a small amount makes a big difference. Many thanks.
