They’re only little, they have a home here with us for life and they are safe – but our mini poonies are so expensive to look after. A few weeks ago the vet came to give them tetanus and flu jabs, they also had a health check and their freezemark details updated. The week afterwards the farrier made his regular visit, the ponies had their feet rasped and Bridget had her special treatment because she is disabled (improving gradually though). Today the equine dentist is due to come and rasp their teeth This all comes to just over £1000 and is difficult for us to find at present – stray dogs and puppies and kittens and cats with health problems are costing such a lot.
Looking after all the animals is something we can’t put off once they have come in to the sanctuary. The ponies need their feet and teeth sorting out on a regular basis. Although the tetanus shots will last for a while thankfully.
If you’d like to adopt one of our ponies it would be such a help with their care. Let us have your details and we’ll send you an info pack with pleasure – there are lots to choose from! Funding for the animals is such a worry but if a thousand people gave us a pound – that would get us over this present crisis.
