A new breed of dog

We had several stray dogs in last week and one of them has very unusual characteristics.  He’s a big macho Rottweiler, full grown adult male, a chunky lad and fairly typical except ……he has bright china blue eyes.   He isn’t a friendly dog so far and these piercing blue eyes are a bit unnerving.   He stands his ground and gives us a sort of Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry stare ….. ‘come on punk, make my day’. I threw him a chunk of meat which he pounced on and devoured in an instant.   ‘No thanks pal, I’ll wait until you settle down’, was my response.   No one has come forward to claim him so we don’t know anything about his background.    He was a puzzle dog until one of our volunteers saw him – Craig recognised the breed straight away.   ‘He’s a Rita’ we were told.   ‘A Rita?   Beg pardon? ‘ We’d never heard of Ritas.     Apparently it’s a new fad to cross a Rottweiler with an Akita – they are then called Rita’s.    Who would want to cross these two breeds of dog and why?    Is someone trying to create the ultimate guard dog?    Let’s hope not.     Our other recenty strays include a Lurcher x (also with blue eyes – is this a coincidence?) a Labrador x, a Patterdale and a collie x.   We’ve  also had a golden oldie Border Terrier brought in.   Good homes wanted please.
