A young cat was brought in last night, found by the side of a busy road. Why was this little scrap out on such a wet and miserable night? He’s not microchipped and is in bad shape, thin and neglected, so he has probably been abandoned. Cats don’t have much road sense and everything was against this poor thing, he’s black and it was a murky night. Most likely he’s been knocked down, he doesn’t want to put weight on one of his back legs and there’s a cut on the inside.
We’ve had him checked and there is no break in the leg so that is a big relief. It is badly bruised though. Internal injuries are always a possibility, we once had a cat brought in who was improving – until he began to bleed profusely. We’ll keep a close eye on this one.
He looks to be about six months old and hasn’t been neutered. So far he isn’t hungry, he just wants to sleep so we’re keeping him warm and cosy. Maybe tomorrow he’ll feel a bit better. Who knows how long he’s been running about trying to find shelter. I think we’d better call him ‘Lucky’.
